MySQL Database is Included as Part of the Zimbra Solution
MySQL is both a Zimbra customer and a partner supplying one of the core database technologies in the Zimbra Collaboration Suite solution. Zimbra chose MySQL in particular because of its robustness, openness, and ease to embed.
ZCS embeds MySQL as the meta-data store. The message meta-data includes:
- What folder is the message in
- What tags, conversations, and read/unread status is associated with the message
- Calendar schedule
- Personal contacts
