Professional Services Consultant
Zimbra is a leading provider of email, calendaring and collaboration solutions for enterprises and service providers, and is an open source software company. We have 1000+ customers for the commercial version of our Zimbra Collaboration Suite, totaling more than 8 million mailboxes.
We seek a talented professional services consultant to join us in deploying, customizing and integrating Zimbra for our key customers. Zimbra's professional services team will be an integral part of our company's continued growth in 2007 and 2008, as it supports the sale of our collaboration suite, and ensures customer satisfaction.
This person will be a key point of contact with our customers via phone, e-mail and some onsite visits. Zimbra deployments can range from enterprises of several thousand mailboxes or more; universities with tens of thousands of mailboxes; and service providers with hundreds of thousands or millions of mailboxes. Existing customers include Comcast Cable, H&R Block, Georgia Tech University, Digg, O'Reilly Media and Mozilla.
Responsibilities for the position include:
- Develop deep knowledge of Zimbra's products as an administrator would
- Assist customers with sizing and design of their Zimbra deployment
- Deploy Zimbra for customers, including complex configurations such as multi-server installations with clustering and multiple storage tiers
- Migrate customer data (email, appointments, etc.) from their legacy system to Zimbra
- Integrate Zimbra with customers' existing applications such as their LDAP directory
- Train administrators in the operations of their Zimbra system
- Provide technical assistance to Zimbra's customers via both phone and e-mail
- Work with senior developers to resolve product-related issues, including debugging and bug submission
- Track all customer interactions via Zimbra's support tools
- Be an advocate for the supportability of the product and customer needs by working with Product Management and Engineering
- Contribute articles to a developing knowledge base
- Some travel will be required
The successful candidate will have the following knowledge and expertise:
- Minimum of 2-3 years supporting or deploying enterprise software products
- Knowledge of messaging systems such as Microsoft Exchange, IBM/Lotus Domino, GroupWise, Sendmail or other IMAP systems, or key messaging system components such as Postfix, is a plus
- Significant experience with Unix systems, specifically Linux
- Experience with complicated software products that involve multiple components
- Significant knowledge of administering databases and Java application servers such as Oracle, MySQL, Derby, BEA, WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Jetty
- Shell/perl scripting a plus
- Experience with SAN storage systems a plus.
- Knowledge of typical enterprise network configurations and environments
- Track record of strong troubleshooting skills and putting the customer first
- A Bachelor's degree in MIS or CS or other relevant experience

Sales Engineer

Reporting to Vice President of Sales, the Sales Engineer will be a proactive member of the field sales team, providing the technical knowledge and consultative skills required to effectively define and evangelize business solutions that are exciting to customers. Ideal candidates must have a proven track record of recent success as a hands-on Sales Engineer in the Messaging Industry focused on enterprise or service-provider messaging solutions.

HTML Production Engineer
Zimbra is seeking a production engineer to take on all aspects of HTML design and implementation. Working with interaction designers and front-end engineers, the candidate will be delivering clean HTML and CSS to drive Zimbra's Ajax and HTML 4.0 based applications. As part of the user interface team, the candidate will need a good eye for clean design, a stellar attention to detail and the temperament to work around nasty browser bugs to deliver a clean and workable solution. The candidate will thrive in a startup environment, easily switch from task to task as priorities change and must be committed to delivering tasks on schedule. The ideal candidate will obsess about the pixels, but will be practical about the HTML that's required to get the desired effect. They understand web standards, but know that getting something out on time is more important than theoretical purity.
Duties include:
- Taking over all aspects of skinning for the Zimbra Collaboration Suite, both AJAX and HTML versions
- Working with Photoshop and HTML prototype designs to deliver solid template code that works in all supported browsers
- Debugging said template code in all supported browsers
- Providing user interface and interaction design feedback and help
- Working with sales and customer support teams to generate skins for customers
- Working knowledge of JavaScript is desired, but in-depth AJAX experience is not necessary. The candidate will naturally learn about AJAX as part of the job.
Job Qualifications:
- 3 years doing HTML and CSS based layout of web applications or advanced web sites
- 3 years doing production work with Photoshop
- 2 years working with at least one back-end scripting language (JSP preferred, PHP, ASP, etc acceptable)
- Good writing skills for producing developer-level documentation of designs
- Graphic design and icon design skills a major plus
- Knowledge of JavaScript and AJAX techniques a plus
- Experience with XSLT a plus

AJAX Application Development Engineer
This candidate will join Zimbra's core development team working on the company's suite of AJAX clients. The candidate will have 3-5 years of related development experience building graphical user interfaces and web applications, deep understanding and commercial development using AJAX (required). J2ME Development Engineer
Zimbra is seeking a Sr. Development engineer to work on the development of the Zimbra J2ME mobile collaboration client. The candidate will have three or more years of commercial product development experience developing J2ME (MIDP 1.0, MIDP 2.0, CLDC 1.0, and CLDC 1.1) applications for a broad range of mobile devices, as well as a demonstrated track record of successfully delivering solutions to market. Principal Software Engineer - Java Server Development
Zimbra, the open source e-mail leader, is seeking a talented software engineer to join us. This person will have ownership of several key pieces of the server side of the Zimbra Collaboration Suite. The majority of the development will occur in Java, and will involve systems programming. (This is not a JSP development position.) The candidate should have a strong can-do attitude, enjoy difficult problems, and be enthusiastic about open source.

Requirements:

Sr. Performance Engineer
Candidate will join the Zimbra performance engineering team and will play a lead role in helping drive forward product performance. The candidate will also be responsible for developing capacity planning models used to determine hardware and software configurations for customer deployments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following skills:
- Ability to analyze and compare performance data and identify system bottlenecks.
- Experience measuring, tuning and improving performance of Java runtimes and applications (specially threading, synchronization, memory management) and/or application servers such as Apache Tomcat. Experience with JProfiler, OptimizeIt or other performance tools.
- Experience with RDBMS database development, tuning and administration. Hands on experience with MySQL+InnoDB would be a plus.
- Ability to generate and present performance reports using MS Excel and charting tools.
- Experience with developing capacity planning models
- Ability to develop shell and Perl scripts to automated load test runs, ability to develop and extend Java multi-threaded load clients and working knowledge of SOAP/XML.
- Expertise in UNIX system administration, particularly Linux. Understanding of MS Exchange and some Windows network administration.
A strong 'can-do' attitude and willingness to work in a top tier, highly energetic startup environment also desired. BS Computer Science or related field required. MS preferred.

Demonstrated track record in delivering web based commercial applications containing complex user interfaces required. Strong knowledge and experience building commercial products using JSPs and Java Servlets must be demonstrated.
