Need some help - adding calendar entries

Is there any way to call the "add to calendar" form from a zimlet and populate the subject and body, but default the rest? I know I can create the entry via a SOAP request, but I would rather give the user control to select the calendar, date, etc.

Also, is there a way to link back to a message knowing it's ID (as in create an anchor tag with a javascript: URI) to link to a message?
