Is it possible to extend buil-in settings pages with a Zimlet?

For intance, our installation will have an additional LDAP attribute for each user profile and we'd like to manage the value of this attribute with a Zimlet. We'd like to extend "Settings" tab and put the functionality of activating/deactiving this attribute value there.

Can this be done? Is there an existing zimlet that does something similar?
