How to install Zimlets on Zimbra Desktop

Hello
I am not Einstein nor a developer, and I need basic instructions about how to install Zimlets on Zimbra Desktop.

I have spent half an hour in the forum, but could not find any, but I have seen that many users have asked for information.

Could someone possibly help?

Deploying Zimlets

The Zimlet zip file should be copied to each Zimbra server where it will be deployed.
To deploy a Zimlet to the default COS
1. Copy the zip file to the /opt/zimbra/zimlet directory.
2. Type the following command: zmzimletctl deploy <zimlet.zip file>

Download the particular zimlet to your desktop.
Then open your Zimbra Admin Console

Follow the Steps

1.Leftside of your admin console, you will find zimlets, click on zimlets.
2.One window will come, click on deploy.
3.Give your destination of the zimlets.
4.Then click Deploy.

It will work, so simple.....

For those of us that are using Windows XP-Pro or Windows-7 Zimbra Desktop 7.0.0, we have no "Zimbra Admin Console".

A search of the wiki relating to Zimlets had me download a javascript program "zimletInstallerForWindows", but that does not work either.

Any other suggestions? I have tried all previous suggestions on three different computers running Win XP-Pro, Win-Vista, and Win-7?

Exactly? The Admin Console is the administration console for the Zimbra Collaboration Server, that's where zimlets are deployed. Zimbra Desktop and details of installing zimlets in that environment are in the wiki, read the FAQ and documentation for Zimbra Desktop.

You can install Zimlets in ZD by going to Preferences > Zimlets > (scroll down to the bottom) in the ZD client. You will see a place to upload Zimlets.

Just for extra clarity: at present you have to download the required zimlet to your computer, and install it into Zimbra Desktop via preferences>zimlets as described by rrao in the last post.

Most zimlets can be found and downloaded at: Zimbra :: Gallery

Heads-up - Bug 48853 would provide the ability for users to be able to go to Preferences in Zimbra Desktop, click on Zimlets, then browse and install new Zimlets directly, via gallery.zimbra.com, and uninstall them to.
