Default Trigger sending email on calendar event?

Hi All!

Our school district in the middle of a massive migration from GroupWise 7.0 to Zimbra. We have about 10K users. The IT group has been migrated, including me. I'm the Network Manager (formerly email admin but now, thankfully, that headache has been shifted to another poor shmuck ;-) )

One indispensable feature of GW was the ability of Notify to trigger an action. I used this heavily to cause different events - calendar or incoming email - to send a text message to my cell phone. This not only prevented me from missing meetings ( I do NOT sit in front of a computer all day) - it allowed me to respond to alarms from various unhappy devices

I'm desperate to get Zimbra to do the same. (BTW we are using only the AJAX-enabled web interface at present)

Is this possible? Please help!

Thanks,

Steve

Unfortunately, no. You want to vote for this RFE:

Bug 10287 - Alert Server

A few other things that your GroupWise fans may miss:

Message tracking: Bug 12852 - Track and show status of email
Retracting messages: Bug 7032 - Support the ability for the admin to "unsend" an email sent within the ZCS
Delegating appointments: Bug 3907 - forward appointments
Scheduled delivery: Bug 7524 - Delayed delivery of mail

I should clarify - there's nothing built into Zimbra to handle ad hoc notification actions.

You can, of course, use Zimbra's open APIs to create something to do this for you. You can also configure many different mobile devices to sync directly with your email and/or calendar and get notifications that way.
