Because you've got about 50 different OSS projects as dependencies. We don't reship the source of those dependencies in most cases (legal/license restrictions). We also build on about 9 platforms so depending on the platform the steps are different.

It's difficult because it's a hard problem. If got ideas on how to make it easier or want to contribute to that success by updating the wiki when you see an error we'd appreciate it.

I know it's early days, but will you be publishing a more detailed roadmap (bug targets etc) for 3.5. I'm looking at a lot of bugs reported in my organisation which match a lot of those in bugzilla, and I don't want to have to duplicate work you're already doing to fix them if we can just wait a few months; I'd rather apply myself to the more fun bits.

If the target is set for a bug then it's at least tied to a release. Other than that the priority gets determined by a mix of bugzilla votes, customer requests, and internal triage. So while larger features will be road mapped and shared as info becomes available we probably won't list out specific bugs. The key is to make sure you report all your bugs in bugzilla and vote for the ones you want fixed first. If your a Network customer you can also file a support case (showing interest in a bug) which will allow us to tie your account to the bug and will raise the relative priority.

Really excited about just now finding this.

We integrate Asterisk telephony server systems with every piece of information management application that we can for our clients around the world (SugarCRM, Apple Addressbook, Exchange Server, AD, LDAP, Wildfire, etc) and I want to add this one to our list. Seems like it has huge potential. Way to go guys. Keep up the great work. I will be closely watching this thread (hopefully adding some insight of my own shortly) as Asterisk gets tight & tighter in to Zimbra. This is the kind of thing that can change the world.
