Integrating Zimbra with existing web application

I am looking at using Zimbra in conjunction with an existing substantial web based PHP project.

I understand that I can transfer emails into my other system by dragging and dropping them onto a Zimlet which is one half of the story.

What I don't understand is how I can view the emails stored in that way. I could incorporate the ability to display an email into my other application, but that seems somewhat overkill when the idea is to integrate with Zimbra which should be able to display/reply/forward them. I would like to be able to click on a link in my other application which would result in Zimbra opening the email.

So is this possible with a Zimlet or Zimbra?

Have I made a mistake in posting here, or is the simple answer that Zimbra can't cope with viewing emails that have been saved elsewhere?

ZCS is not a "webmail" nor "email display program"...
If you want ZCS to display a mail, the mail should be in ZCS.

This means you might have to forward the mail from your other application to the ZCS account then open it from the ZCS account...

As you will see from the initial post the email will start off life in ZCS. I just don't see the point in the drag and drop an email to a Zimlet if there is no way to go back to the email in ZCS from the other application. Certainly it is a pain to reply to the email if you have to see it in the other application then search to find it in ZCS before replying.

Your description of what exactly you are trying to achieve (an example workflow of what a user would do would be helpful) is not very clear. Is this what you're after?
