We work with a lot of attachments, and I cannot figure out how to save multiple attachments to a directory at the same time in Zimbra (web version). Is there a zimlet out there that can help me wtih this?

what version are u using? In 5.x.x (at least in 5.0.2) you can download all attachments in one zipfile thus into one dir? Maybe this helps..

I don't want to sound naive, but how can I tell which version I am using. The login screen simply state Zimbra Collaboration Suite. As it is the web based version, I am not seeing an About page, etc.

Thank you. We have version 4.5.7, and that sounds like it is my problem. I am guessing I probably need to contact my IT guy to find out why he installed an older version on the server and what would be involved with upgrading.

ok, that's an option 4 you then. Maybe have him install a test-version on a test-machine so you can check out whether the newest version meets your requirements. Don't know what kind of environment you're working in. (telling the 'it-guy' supporting 500 users to update his stable single server 5 versions because of an attachment-issue is not going to make his day..:0))

I have received so many complaints about the multiple attachments, folks to do not want to leave thunderbird for the web client because it does not allow saving of multiple attachments and the zipped file made them complain to me more. Personally I do not mind, but they do not want to have to worry about zip files too. A typical day consists of 5 emails, throughout the day, with 10 attachments each. The just want to click, get prompted for a save location and down load all, is there such a zimlet?

Doing a zimlet that save the messages attachements is not impossible.
My zimlet that save files in alfresco (a document managing software) actually save the attachements. If you are motivated to do the zimlet you can try to use the code.
But I think you should teach your users how to handle zip files

It is common sense if you want to download multiple files to put them into one archive file, isn't it?

If they are a bunch of docs or spreadsheets and you need to open them, no.
I have taught them, but insist it is too much a hassle and like the way they are doing it...so I gave up.
I have no idea how to make a zimlet.

Since download of multiple attachments is handle in the recent versions of zimbra (but it make a zip file), doing a zimlet is possible but not really usefull.

For your user and the zip files :
-install 7-zip on their machines

and now the instructions they have to follow when they have a zip file (if they are on windows):
-right click on the file
-select 7-zip -> extract here

It is over. Not so difficult, no?
And if the expeditor send a zip file they will need to handle it anyway.
