We just want to make a Zimlet where u can search for a number in a little window and the search shall open a site with a variable like this: http://www.publicservice/numberlookup?num=NUMBER

How much work is that?

What do you mean by search?
It seems that you just want to enter a number in a field.
Then it is a very simple FORM.
This shouldn't be a lot of work.
