This is browser derived behavior, AFAIK, not something you can control in Zimlet. In Firefox Under the tabs option, select new pages should be open in new tab.

I have my browser (firefox) set to open all new windows in new tabs but still the link opens a new window.
I'm using the <onClick> and <canvas type="window" /> tags to create the link.

It's a browser issue, AFAIK, and not something that Zimbra can manage.

Is this behavior specific to Firefox 2.0.0.5?

In 2.0.0.7, under Preferences > Tabs there is an option to open new windows in tabs vs. windows. In older versions I recall having to set this by browsing to about:config and enabling an option that forced all windows into tabs.

I believe that option has been around for a bit.
