Does J2ME poll for updates?

Title expresses the question, but I thought that the J2ME client would poll for updates to better mimic/replace existing BB and other mobile connection options. I'm not sure if it is something I missed as a new BB user or not a feature of the J2ME client.

No, it currently does not poll unless you ask it. Please file a feature request.
