Upgraded without a hitch this morning
How much downtime should I prepare to upgrade from 5.0.6 to 5.0.8?
I have about 150 accounts and a total of 25GB of data.
Please advise.
Thank you.
It'll depend a lot on your hardware--RAM and CPU especially--as well as on the number of users and data size. In my machine, a PIII 1.4 GHz, 2.5GB RAM, it took the better part of 25-30 min to go thru all the upgrade scripts for only 30 accounts and approx. 5 GB mailstore. I have not done it on other machines with different configurations so I really can't tell you how representative that is.
Hi Dan
if commerical SSL certificate is installed on 5.06NE, When I upgrade 5.06NE --> 5.08 NE:
1. do I need re-generate new CSR file for SSL commercial certificate?
If I reinstall 5.08NE on new larger size hard drive:
2. can I use the SSL certificate file which is installed on 5.06NE? Or I need generate new CSR file to get new SSL commerical certificate file?
Thanks in advance!
salu
I can tell you for certain that an upgrade should not affect your certificate--mine continued unchanged over several upgrades. I have seen a couple threads where people did break certificates on upgrade, but I'm not sure how they managed this as mine have worked without a hitch.
As to installing on a bigger hard drive, I don't know for certain because you would be (presumably) doing a clean install rather than an overlay-upgrade. At the worst, you might have to re-generate the CSR and use it to re-generate your certificate. Since I have not tried this I can't speak from experience whether this will be necessary or not.
You may take the certificate file from one install to another, fresh one, as long as the domain name from which Zimbra is accessed doesen't change.
You just have to carry the files containing the certificates and private keys with you to the new location.
Good luck!
