Default Problems with Blackberry Attachments

One of our users is having a problem receiving attachments on his BlackBerry 8800 (Cingular) , so I did some testing:

Using Mail.app; If an email has an inline attachment as part of the body then the attachment wont show up, but if the attachment is the only thing in the body it would work.

I assumed this was a problem only with mail.app since sending emails from other clients it worked. but the user reported he is not getting attachments from external sources.

Any ideas?
