Default Active Sync vs. IMAP for Direct Push email

I have a WM5 device that is successfully syncing contacts and calendars over-the-air using ActiveSync but when I try to use ActiveSync for email, deletes and message moves between folders do not propagate back to ZCS. Do I need to configure IMAP to achieve this level of email sync? Also, does direct push technology depend on ActiveSync in WM5 devices or can I use it in combination with IMAP? I can't seem to get the right combination of settings to achieve both two-way email sync *and* direct push.

"Push" is part of activesync protocol. If you use IMAP for email you will lose certain features, such as meeting invitation accept/decline and their interaction with calendar entries.

As I suspected. Is it also true that ActiveSync is one-way for email?

No, it is two way. If it doesn't work as expected, you may want to open a support case.
