Default Mobile Push, Windows Mobile 5.0

Excuse me if I'm being really thick here ... I think I need another coffee

1) we are running a trial of Zimbra Network Trial on RedHat
2) we've managed to get Apple Mail and iCal, Outlook etc to sync perfectly
3) I'm testing now with Salesforce.com and that seems to work very nicely too
4) I'm now also testing with Windows Mobile 5.0

Now... using ActiveSync, I have it syncing nicely my email, calendar and contacts - not a problem.

However this is NOT push, and I need to test the PUSH aspect. I've been told that the Mobile Functionality is included, I can't for the life of me find anything about it.

1) how do you test the mobile PUSH (that is the automatic delivery of an email to your mobile device) aspect?
2) is this a setting in the Zimbra Admin, or the Users Control, or something on the phone, or is this a 3rd party tool we need?

Otherwise ... we are loving this, a huge pat on the back to all the Zimbra team!!

Thanks, I now have it installed. I've modified the Default COS, selected it in the feature list.

How does a user configure it? I can't for the life of me find any documentation on this (none in the Admin Guide, little online) about how this works, how to set it up.....

Any advice, url's etc ..MUCH.. appreciated

Okay got it sorted.
I'm using an iMate JasJam with Windows Mobile 5.0

I found out that I had to use the Microsoft Direct Push, meaning I had to simply

1) enable Zimbra Mobile on the server
2) do a complete Active Sync with the server
3) turn on Microsoft Direct Push (in the comManager)

that's it ... now provided MDP is turned on (I turn it off to save bandwidth) I get emails pushed direct to my phone

It sounds odd enough, but push is actually client initiated. The current version of zimbra server 4.5.x will tell client that push is supported. If the client chooses to use it (and the mobile network is cooperative enough) then push will happen.

Not all phones can support push. Most WM5 phones will require patch released by carriers for push. For Treo devices only VersaMail 3.5 or above supports push. To find out whether a particular phone supports push or what patches are required, the best way is to google it.
