Default Zimbra and Android....no HTML?

Hi, I am new to posting and also not an IT expert so please bear with me.
I have a Sprint EVO which uses the Android Operating system. I just switched from having my email hosted by Sherweb via exchange server, to using Zimbra.
My EVO is not receiving HTML format of email. The setting to change it to receive HTML is grayed out. I did some research using google and these forums and I am understanding that this may be because Zimbra is using Exchange 2003 and not 2007??
Is there ANYWAY to receive emails in HTML formatting?
I am seriously considering switching to google mail service because it seems more compatibile with my phone.
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks

I use Nitrodesk Touchdown to access an 6.0.10 NE server and I receive HTML formatted messages without problems. You might want to check that your hosting provider is on the most recent version of Zimbra, some Android phones weren't supported until a recent version of NE.

I just asked the host of my server if he was on the newest version of ZImbra and he said yes. Is that what you mean by NE? I did find touchdown and downloaded but each email came up with an error that said it was unable to retrieve the HTML version of the email....

You should ask someone if they are on a specific version of Zimbra, if you look through the forums you'll see that most people say they're on the 'current' or 'most recent' version and that's on posts going all the way back to when the forums started.

Just for confirmation you can do the following, login to your web mail account and enter the following in the search box in Zimbra:

Code:
$set:get version
That will give you the currently installed release and version number.

That stands for Network Edition which is the version that mobile sync is supported for mail, calendars etc.

Try changing the 'email download size' to something larger than the default, 50k would do to start - it's in the Advanced tab of the settings page.

Thanks! This is what it said when I searched for version:
Version 6.0.10_GA_2692
Release: 20101215162357
Bld Date: 20101215-1632

Is this the current version?

Also, is touchdown the only way to get HTML emails? One of the reviews said it kills the battery life? Does that mean my calender program and contacts will all change as well?

I appreciate your help! I know I am not your typical advanced user!

I also have the same problem and it appears to be an issue with zimbra. See below for a link to what appears to be the same problem. I've used activesync with Nokia, native Android, touchdown and roadsync and not had HTML email in any of them.

ActiveSync HTML email not working with Zimbra Mobile
