I made it work finally !
In fact, addressbook's synchronization was working immediatly,
but agenda's sync made Roadsync crash.

I tried with an empty agenda (in fact 2 weeks empty, as i didn't want to
sync all my meetings), and it worked !

So I've got a full sync solution, based on Zimbra, with no need to use Outlook !

Have fun !

I just added an entry on the Wiki, and I think that all devices mobile devices supported by Roading (see http://www.dataviz.com/solutions/ent...d_devices.html) should work with ZimbraCS NE / push mail.

Did anyone manage to really get the "push" functionality work with the roadsync software? I've just about tried all configuration options and the scheduled sync works good (except that Zimbra only shows contacts a-b in the webmail) but I never managed to activate the "push" functionality. It gets automatically disabled after every sync attempt. Does anybody have some experiance?

Well, just for a better understanding:
  • Do i have to use Zimbra Network Edition to sync with Roadsync ?
  • Or is it working with the OpenSource Edition as well ?
  • Do i need Zimbra Mobile for this ?!
  • Where exactly is the difference between Zimbra Mobile & Roadsync ?

Thank you very much & Best Regards,

Harry

RoadSync is a device based software that makes the device able to sync with Microsoft Exchange 2003 (and Zimbra, as Zimbra Mobile "emulate" an Exchange server). It will allow a non supported phone (such as my Nokia 9300) to sync with Zimbra Mobile.

RoadSync alone is useless.

Zimbra Mobile alone is usable "out of the box" with one of the supported phone (see the related page on the website).

BTW, push not working is not a RoadSync related issue but Zimbra Mobile (not able to push yet).

Thanks a lot for the quick answer !

So how much money do i have to spent, to get syncing with my Nokia 9300i work ??

Calculation:
============
Zimbra NE: 1st 25 pack $25/user/year = $625
Zimbra Mobile = $500
RoadSync for Symbian Series 80 = $99.99
======================
TOTAL: $1224,99

IS THAT RIGHT ?! If so, i have to look for another possibility for syncing my Nokia9300i with Zimbra.

That's too expensive, for me

Is there any other chance to get this running with less money: detouring, SyncML....?!

Best Regards,

Harry

What do you want to sync ?
Emails, calendar, contacts ?

Anyway, if it's just for one user, you should got the hosted way.

Default hmm...

Actually i just want to sync my calendar, contacts can be, but are not so important, and finally NO email, because i access via IMAP.

All has to be done WITHOUT Microsoft products aka Windows / Outlook / ActiveSync...

As i am administrating two Zimbra servers and one cluster, i could host myself. But my clients don't need Zimbra NE, so maybe the strategy should be to sell them the necessary of an upgrade to the 'full' Zimbra

They drive a nice business model !

Default Works with the Nokia 9300

I have the Nokia 9300 and Dataviz Road Sync works well. I haven't got the "push" functionality to work, but the sync works well. Even though it always says "Syncing with Exchange" it works with Zimbra 4.0.5 NE.

It's a trial version, and expires in 60 days. It costs $100. Given a new (natively compatible) phone is not much more, not sure what I'll do.

Dataviz lowered the price to $49

I tested the UIQ2 and the J2ME version.

The UIQ2 version works like a charm, including push email.

The J2ME also works flawlessly, remembering that the J2ME version doesn't have goodies like push email and calendar/tasks syncing. Better than the MOTOSYNC on my Motorola A1200, that always gives me "authentication error".
