Default iPhone not sending UTF-8 mails since 3.1.3?

Hi,

when I send an e-mail with an iPhone version 3.1.2 (7D11), it correctly gets formatted as UTF-8:
Quote:
Content-Type: text/plain;
charset=utf-8;
format=flowed
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
Sent Using: Zimbra 6.0.4_GA_2038.UBUNTU8 (MobileSync - Apple-iPhone/704.11)

Another iPhone version 3.1.3 (7E18) sends this:
Quote:
Content-Type: text/plain;
charset=us-ascii;
format=flowed
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
Sent Using: Zimbra 6.0.4_GA_2038.UBUNTU8 (MobileSync - Apple-iPhone/705.18)

Which results in Zimbra (and other mail clients) to not display special characters (e. g. German Umlauts) correctly.

All iPhone settings are identical, as well as the settings of the Zimbra accounts. An e-mail written in Zimbra gets formatted correctly in UTF-8.

Is this a bug of Zimbra mobile in combination with the latest iPhone software 3.1.3?

Cany anybody confirm this?

regards,
Bernhard

tried to send via pop account with both devices. result: both devices correctly
send utf-8!

so it's not an iphone device issue, it must be somewhere between iphone
exchange support and zimbra mobile...

I presume you've filed a bug report or contacted support about this issue?

yes: Bug 45415 – iPhone not sending UTF-8 mails since 3.1.3

I will do some further testing as I have one iPhone with the older OS version using MS Exchange that I will upgrade shorty to 3.1.3. Then we will know whethere or not it's an MS active sync issue or a Zimbra issue.
