Default Zimbra Sync with Android through TouchDown

Hi..

I have found this Exchange Synchronization application for the Android G1 one :

NitroDesk Inc. - TouchDown features

When syncing to Zimbra...It seems to connect correctly... but then it throws an error....

Error 501 HTTP ERROR: 501 Method SEARCH is not defined in RFC2068 a....

and then I can't see the rest of the error message...

I'm trying to run this against a Zimbra 5.0.10...

Can anyone get it to work????

I'm running it with Exchange 2003 support...

Default More info

Hi again..

I have found some more info... when the G1 is trying to connect to the zimbra the following appears in /opt/zimbra/jetty/logs/access.log:

62.199.79.51 - - [27/Dec/2008:22:30:15 +0100] "POST /exchweb/bin/auth/owaauth.dll HTTP/1.1" 404 235 "-" "-"
62.199.79.51 - - [27/Dec/2008:22:30:15 +0100] "SEARCH /exchange/mj%40casalogic.dk HTTP/1.1" 501 1471 "-" "-"
62.199.79.51 - - [27/Dec/2008:22:30:16 +0100] "SEARCH /exchange/mj%40casalogic.dk HTTP/1.1" 501 1471 "-" "-"

Seems like some exchange extensions are missing... does anyone know howto or if these can be enabled???

The simple answer is that Zimbra isn't an Exchange server so you're not likely to get that working.

Please update your forum profile with the output of:

Code:
zmcontrol -v

Default Touchdown

Hi..

On other phones I have been using Nokia's "Mail for Exchange" and "Roadsync" that works great... I thought these worked the same way...

I guess I have to wait for a Android version of Roadsync to come along..

That's probably because (I believe) they use activesync to connect. If you look at the first line in your error messages you'll see this requirement: "owaauth.dll" is missing, that's a Windows dll and would indicate that it expects that dll to be available. That's obviously not available in a Zimbra server as it's a linux only distribution.

I guess that's the only option for the present, you could also file an RFE in bugzilla.

Default Zimbra and T-Mobile G1/Android

Sorry it took so long, and thanks for your patience..

TouchDown has now undergone some initial testing and is now capable of running against your Zimbra account. However, this will work only with version 3.0.080 and above, and is currently in beta.

If you want to get the beta, please refer to this link: Installing the latest beta - NitroDesk TouchDown | Google Groups

Once installed, you should be able to go into settings and follow the Easy Configuration wizard in the latest release to connect to your Zimbra server.

(Tested against a 5.0.x Zimbra server.)

cheers
-Nitro

I've just installed and tried out your application (testing it for our small consultant firm) and I have found three problems.
First of all I can't seem to search the GAL, is that expected?
Secondly it seems the application does not handle umlauts correctly? EDIT: It seems this is actually working, my bad ;-)
And the last problem is that I can't find a setting for changing to 24h clock instead of am/pm in the calendar view.

Are these issues something your working on, or is there a bugzilla I can file these issues in or something? The two last "features" is quite important for us living in Sweden...

I dont believe Zimbra supports the ActiveSync GAL command, because it seemed to return an error always.
Umlauts, we will have to check back on this one, added to bug list.
24 hour clock is an option we are thinking of adding in the next version.
thanks!

Awsome :-)

About the GAL command, maybe that should be a bug with Zimbra then? Anyone who can point me towards where to report it?

You'll need to create a separate account: Search for bugs
