so.. i think...

the first situation:

zimbra and funambol on same server
- both need same java jre
- funambol admin (remote) need same jre as funambol server

for zimbra java jre is in: /opt/zimbra/java/jre/
for funambol java jre is in: /opt/Funambol/tools/jre-1.5.0/jre/

in file /etc/init.d/funambol and /opt/Funambol/bin/funambol set second line:
export JAVA_HOME=/opt/zimbra/java/jre/

zimbra's latest opensource release uses following java version:
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_16-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.2-b01, mixed mode, sharing)

so the funambol admin needs also this version.. on my kubuntu 9.04 this is the lateste java, so no problem...

second situation:

zimbra and funambol on different server...
- same: both need same java jre, also funambol admin
- zimbra server has latest java jre:
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_16-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.2-b01, mixed mode, sharing)
- funambol default uses jre-1.5.0

on funambol server, in file /etc/init.d/funambol and /opt/Funambol/bin/funambol set second line:
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre

same for my funambol admin, kubuntu 9.04 uses same java jre as zimbra server and funambol server..

overview of my current installation:

--------------------------------
ZIMBRA SERVER:
--------------------------------

zimbra version: zcs-6.0.1_GA_1816.UBUNTU8.20090911174852

--------------------------------
FUNAMBOL ADMIN:
--------------------------------

funambol admin version: 8.0.0

so, i hope this can explain some questions...

if i'm wrong in some points.. just correct.. we are just humans

after upgrade zimbra to 6.0.2 and funambol to 8.0.1, the version conflict is back:
now all 3 products should run the same java version:
- zimbra
- funambol ds-server
- funamboladmin

for the ds-server, see my first post:
add JAVA_HOME=/opt/zimbra/java in /opt/Funambol/bin/funambol script
(if on a different server, copy the zimbra java-tree)
(first stop the server)

funamboladmin is using the jre1.5 java from the tools dir, so better rename this:
mv /opt/Funambol/tools/jre-1.5.0 /opt/Funambol/tools/jre-1.5.0_get_away
and start it with a parameter:
/opt/Funambol/admin/bin/funamboladmin --jdkhome /opt/zimbra/java
(copy the java-tree if running form another machine or client)

the machine running the client should have the libXtst package.
in my place, the server doesn't have the x libs so I get an error:
on redhat or centos:
yum install libXtst
on ubuntu:
apt-get install libxtst6

this should work

note: /opt/zimbra/java is a link, to /opt/zimbra/jdk1.6.0_16 in my place
better use this link, so after upgrade zimbra it will stay working.

Damn, just can't seem to get it working again :X I have no idea what i did wrong.

Server:
- email.$me - Zimbra Release 6.0.2_GA_1912.DEBIAN4.0 DEBIAN4.0 FOSS edition.
- sync.$me - Funambol 8.0.2, ZimbraConnector from sourceforge (0.6.00)

The errors I find in my outlook-client.log:
Quote:

Anyone has any clue what to do?
I already straightened up the java versions etcetera... Out of clue

Little update

I reinstalled my old funambol 7.0X version and got syncing quite working. I tested with outlook (which is my backup) and strangely enough not everything seems to sync... Keep you updated if I find out new info

Default Now for FunambolAdmin

Thanks Thomi (above).that's worked fine for me.

My next issue is that I am not clear what should actually be present in the ZimbraConnector config for cal, event etc. In the funamboladmin tool I have set them thus (for example):
cal
cal
http://my.server.org:8080/service/soap

Should it be http://my.server.org:8080/funambol/ds, is 8080 the correct port? Should scal, scard and stask use https://my.server.org:8443/... etc? Can someone give me an actual letter-for-letter description of their funamboladmin CalendarSynchSource (etc.) config?

(I removed the port number from the http line and now get this error:
"Server Failure: server returned error code 511"
when I check the sync log.)

I am receiving an Outlook Sync error that the remote name is wrong, so I'm assuming it is the connector configuration that's at fault. I'm about to have to reinstall exchange unless I can crack this problem in the next 48 hours :-( because our folk must be able to sync their phones/PDAs with their existing software etc. I can't get anything to sync with zimbra and even the zimbra calendars keep disappearing for no reason and won't return until I reboot zimbra. Helppp!

Any pointers?

Our Zimbra has been running pretty decently, this is a first time install of Funambol.

Start funambol before running the install-modules command. That should fix the error.

I'm still having trouble syncing. The Zimbra module I used seems to be missing some functions (full date y/n if i remember correctly).
