Deleted Messages don't go away

My Mail account is configured IMAP and exactly the same thing happens on my iPhone. The phone triggers a dowbload change, but the message doesn't move to trash. This issue isn't just related to deleted messages, I have the same problem when moving messages from Inbox to other folders on the server.
