Question Problems syncing using Windows Mobile 6

I have a customer who recently purchased Zimbra Mobile and are having problems syncing their PDA's which use Windows Mobile 6.

The problem is that the PDA successfully connects to Zimbra. However, the actual syncing process takes a very very very long time. To the point of being unacceptable.

Syncing is using the Wifi connection on the PDA. Zimbra is using the default ports. And in this case we are trying to sync using HTTP (not SSL). Using Zimbra 5.0.2.

I have checked the logs and I can see that the PDA is successfully connecting.

So as a test, I created a new mailbox for the user and had the PDA sync using those details. The PDA did finish the sync but it took 30 to 60 seconds to synchronise using the new mailbox, which contained only a few calendar entries and no email.

The mailboxes being synced range from 1gb to 2gb in size and have about 50 folders and sub-folders, possibly more.

Any ideas how to trouble-shoot this problem?

We tested wm6 quite extensively on different devices, via gprs/hsdpa and wifi. No problems at all..
Initial sync can take a while but not more than about 10 minutes for a full sync (over wifi).
Big mailboxes, sync of many folders and settings on device to download complete attachments and/or large parts of messages, and/or any of these combined can bring you a lot of data-traffic and thus bottlenecks on device, memoryspace, connection etc.. (and corresponding expenses..)
Check these basic settings and see if you can optimize your sync-cycles..

We are using Zimbra mobile in production and migrating blackberry-users who are not complaining (yet..)
(not been able to test the brandnew blackberry connector for now..)
New users are happy with zimbra-mobile, ms direct-'push' (..) and mail and calendar synced over the air.
Using mainly HTC-Kaiser and HP514 devices.
Maybe this helps
Regards,
Peter

After hitting submit i realized we recently had one problem with a user who used a couple of recurring events in his schedule. It somehow caused the sync to get in a loop.
Deleting the event from the calender solved the problem with the initial sync. Added event afterwards and sync went fine...
