what does zimbra mobile do?

Hello,
if all the supported Smartphones and mobile devices support native imap accounts and stuff, what for do i need the mobile function enabled in zimbra?
I mean what happens on the zimbra side after clicking the checkbox which activates zimbra mobile?

Would be great to get some help on this issue

that means it enables the function to synchronize with mobile devices?
I thought that all the windows mobile devices support Imap/M api synch, so theres no need to activate the mobile function in zimbra?

I mean what is happening behind the checkbox?

Any phone that support IMAP can connect to the Zimbra server. It's the MAPI that causes the problem - that's for connecting to an Exchange server. I think you can imagine what happens when you check the Mobile feature - it also allows you to sync calendar and address book.
