Default Errors installing Outlook Connector

Hey folks,

We have a client who is trying to install the Outlook Connector. He is having some errors and I have run into the problem before but it's usually corrected itself. I'm going to copy and paste the problem and what we've tried so far:

I'm trying to install the ZCS Connector for Outlook on a new Vista laptop but it keeps generating an error at the end of the install process that states that the installer was interrupted before ZCS Connector for Outlook could be installed. I've tried several times to repeat the install, but I keep getting the same error message.

Replied with:
First, I would like you to go into your windows control panel and goto the "Add/Remove Programs" utility. Near the very bottom you should see ZCS Connector for Outlook. Click on that, then click the remove button to uninstall it. After that, restart your computer. When you start back up, log into our web portal or the Zimbra Admin console and download the Outlook Connector. Before you run the installer, make sure you have quit all other applications, especially Outlook. You could be receiving that error message because the Outlook Connector is trying to access a file that another program is already using.

After this, he is still getting the same error. This is the first time I've run into this on Vista, so I'm not sure if that is causing it or not. Any ideas?

that is because of UAC in Vista.

you can try to run and elevated cmd.exe session
(via Run As Administrator)
and start installation from this session.
Also you can temporarily disable UAC install connector and enable it again.
How to do that you can read the following article

we'll be supporting vista and outlook 2007 with a release based on our 5.0 codebase. using 4.5.x with vista and outlook 2007 will surface many bugs.

if you turn off UAC, you can install 4.5.x on vista. If not, the installation will fail.

Default How do you turn off UAE

Hi

I am now convinced that vendors (not only microsoft) use security as a lock in method.

I have followed the instructions on henreys posting above
and interpret this as making three changes in the policy tool.

I still cant get it to work. Maybe I have not rebooted

Default ZCS Outlook 2007 compatible version schedule

Is there any word on when the version 5 code-base release is due? I am currently running Outlook 2007 and can't get the current version of ZCS extender to install.

Welcome to the forums.

You can check product release details on the Product Portal, it's also been mentioned once or twice on the forums.

I'm now starting to run into the same problem on non-vista machines. I'm trying to install the connector on a PC running XP SP2 and during installation it tells me the install was interupted. I've tried running the installer again with the repair option but it doesn't work either. I've uninstalled the connector, reinstalled, tryed downloading a new one still with no luck. I've seen this problem on several machines and it seems to be totally random. Any ideas?
