AFAIK, there's no such possibility in Outlook (nor Zimbra WebUI).
If you want/need it, you should fill a RFE in the bugzilla.

Lightbulb Re Workaround part 2

Hi Klug,

I was looking at the mailbox selection screen and had an idea, currently the selection screen functions like a default outlook addressbook form were a user can only select one item, if it were possible to select multiple items in this screen my problem would be solved. Does the currently used outlook form prohibits this, or could this be possible?

Question Follwup plz..

Hi Klug, sam, dkarp,

To finish this thread properly, the end conclusion is that you can't auto-subscripe or mass-subscripe users to each other shared data (although through the use of groups, one can mass-set permissions). Thanks for
everyones input, my troubles are now half solved.

I've visited the bugzilla but don't see a way to file a request, any pointers?

Futhermore, can someone enlighten me as to what programming language the outlook connector is written in? and if it falls under the community edition of Zimbra? Ifso I would be happy to attempt to code the multi-mailbox functionality in myself.

Regards,

Maurits Meijer

Fill in as a bug and vote for it.
The Zimbra boys will classify it as "RFE" 8)

I don't know which language but I think it need the net framework.
It's "closed source", not usable with/for the Community Edition.

You are correct, the bug is here:
http://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=10137

the fix was implemented on 1/15 on our main branch which means it will be in our 5.0 release.

Question about bug 10137

Hi Sam & Klug,

I've read the information about bug 10137 and it looks like that it will at least solve the first half of my problem (although the WebUI offers a workaround for it), and reading the comments on the bug I think it could possibly also solve the second half, a quote from a comment (nr 4) by Ananta Iyengar;

user2's Inbox folder is being shared via the distribution list. In this case
we grant the distribution list admin privileges on user2's inbox.

If this means that when in Outlook you select the DL when opening an mailbox and you get the shared recources that that DL has access to, then I'm all set.

A more recent comment states the following;

The fix was not intended for FRANK. Please test with the main connector

I gather that Frank is the pseudo name for release 5, does or doesn't this mean this will get implemented?

Thanks for everyone's time so far btw.

Regards,

Maurits Meijer

No, Frank is the pseudonym for 4.5.x - the current release. That bug indicates it's been implemented.

Question Followup 2

Hi Bill,

If the functionality discussed in the bug 10137 is implemented in version 4.5.x which I'm currently evaluating, then why doesn't it work right now (did you read the entire thread before responding?). This is what doesn't work at the moment;
  • Through the connector you can't set permissions for a shared recourse based on distributionlists, only users.
  • When adding shared data to your profile, you can only select users, not distributionlists.

This at least is how it works in my copy of Zimbra (the virtual appliance version with connector version 4.5.148).

Maurits Meijer
