Default Blank Email Body - Anti-Virus?

We have several desktops with the Outlook connector (outlook 2003) that receive emails with subjects but with blank body's. All of the computers this occurs on also use AVG Anti-Virus.

I spoke with a Zimbra support rep. and they told me to uninstall AVG, clear the profile and resynchronize. Sure enough, this fixed the problem. The problem reoccurs soon after reinstalling AVG.

The Zimbra support rep said this was a known problem but I have been unable to find any other threads or bugzilla entries related to AVG and blank email body's. Has anyone else run into this and figured out a way for AVG and Zimbra Connector to live happily together? If this is a known issue is there a bugzilla entry and a time frame to implement the fix?

A majority of the clients we support use AVG and we are starting to migrate them all to Zimbra. This poses as a significant problem.

Thank you,
Brad

Welcome to the forums.

If you've spoken to tech support they should have raised a bugzilla entry for this problem or pointed you to an existing one, did they? You can search bugzilla yourself.

Offhand, I don't know what the exact problem is with AVG and the Outlook Connector. There may be a feature in AVG that scans incoming email for a virus, if there is can the option be disabled?

I had the same problem when installing at one of my clients sites. To disable the email scanner in AVG open the control center. Select the email scanner plugin. Click properties. Click on the "Disable Plugin" button. Lastly put a check beside "ignore plugin condition". All done problem solved.

Default having problems too

Hello,

I have the same problems. When I disable the plugin, then it works, I can download my mails, but when I reboot the PC, I have to go always to click "Disable Plugin". So the status wont be saved. Have you any idea for this? I didnt found any registry entries for these settings.

Thanks,
A,

Default during install

During the install of the anti-virus, you can select custom install and then deselect the option to install the Email Scanner.

While in AVG Anti-Virus Control Center you can select View->Components and then unselect the Email Scanner. I do not know if this sticks after a reboot, but you can try. I think the best option is to reinstall/update with the deselection of the Email Scanner during custom config options.

Thanks Brad,

I think I will try to uninstall and to install it with custom settings.
Hopefully it will work.

Andras
