Default Problem with meeting invitations

Recently one of my users has begun receiving meeting invitations in Outlook as plain text instead of the expected Meeting invitations view Outlook provides. If the user instead logs into the Zimbra Client, the meeting invitation displays as expected.

I have included a anonymized version of an example invite below :
Code:

This is Zimbra 4.0.5, with Outlook 2003 (Norwegian) including all latest post-SP2 patches to Office. The connector is also 4.0.5.

Arrow Outlook bug with extended chars

Hi denisb.

This is a known (and fixed) bug for Outlook Connector.
It happens when a user or resource included as attendee in a meeting request has extended ascii chars in his name (for example, my name, 'Iñigo' has this problem since 'ñ' is extended ascii).
The bug was fixed one month ago, but it has not be included in version 4.0.5. According to bugzilla, it will be included in next major release, that is, in 4.5 NE . Mid january.

Thanks for the information! That seems very plausible as an explanation as at least two of the invitees have norwegian chars in their names.

Default Also having problem with meeting requests

I'll add in my $.02. Meeting request generated from Zimbra Web and read in Outlook shows the full plaintext message content, not the pretty-printed meeting info you expect to see in Outlook. We're on 4.5.6 server but have not updated to 4.5.6 Outlook connector on the advice of our ISP, due to problems with 4.5.6 connector. That means most of our users are on 4.5.4 I think.

Has anyone learned any more about this problem?

I've just tested this against the pre-release ZCO connector for 4.5.7, and meeting requests are rendering correctly in the Zimbra Web client and in Outlook. I've checked requests created in Outlook and created in ZWC, and they're both looking good.

Forgot to mention, you can download the pre-release connector from support.zimbra.com.
