Default Locate zimbra.zdb in another directory?

Is it possible to change the location of the zimbra.zdb file (from personal profile directory)?

Because we use network-profiles in windows, a big .zdb will slow down login to windows. So now we locate the .pst (1.5GB) file in a network directory outside the profile. Is it possible to do the same with the zimbra.zdb?

Thanks in advance!

Greetings
Christian

Currently zdbs must be in the Local Settings and are not relocatable. See bug 9232.

Hallo Sam!

Do you plan the relocation of the zdb in a future release?

Thanks
Christian

From bug 9232
After talking with Henry, the plan is as follows:

1. Installer will create a new registry key
HKCU\Software\Zimbra\ZimbraZDBFolder
2. The default value of this key can be customized using ZmCustomizeMsi.js
3. When creating a profile, zdb's will be stored in this folder

We will also provide a standalone executable that can move an existing ZDB and
update the profile accordingly.
Can anybody direct me to an example of how to make this change ?
I have way to many roaming profiles and cannot afford for the zdb to be in Application Data

Thanks

Second that. I have excluded this folder from our roaming profile but this would be good to change this location to say a home drive.

I can't find any other info on this at all in the release notes or wiki. There needs to be more documentation on features like this.

Plus without AD directory, like us, I cant be going to every computer and changing GPO for redirection.

I t would be nice if I can modify the installer once and then use it for all Zimbra Connector installations so that I can make a zdb location default

Also users/local settings/Application Data/Microsoft/Outlook should always be default

Ive reopened the bug so that you will be able to customize the installer to set the default zdb folder path.

Is it possible to manually set the path in the registry now?

yes, with 4.5.1 you should be able to manually set the registry key. After you set it, when you create a new zimbra profile, the zdb will be placed in the path specified in the registry key.
