What exactly are you trying to do? Why are you copying the .zdb to another system? Why not just configure it to be in the right place from the start? Maybe we can figure out a way to do what you want without tricking the system. Also going from version 5 right to version 7, sounds kind of scary. |
So here is my application. I have 3 desktops at physically disparate locations as well as a laptop that I use while traveling. I may not log onto a system for as long as three weeks at a time so when I do log into that system it can take up to 30 minutes to sync the email account as well as it appears tht many of the calendar items do not sync correctly as I still have to go into outlook and say dismiss to about a third of the appts. That is a pain but not insurmountable but the delay in syncing is the major problem for me. So to counter this I use a program called syncback that sycnronizes all of my desktops with my laptop. The laptop then becomes the "system of record" for the syncronization process.
If I sync (copy) the latest zdb to the laptop then sycn it to one of the other desktops then there is no delay in the sync process when I open that system. Thsi method has worked quite successfully for me for about 15 years using outlook psts but we were not using exchange server.
The thing that I love about the ZCS is the ability to now share calendars and work in a much more integrated fashion but I have not dealt with the syncing stuff so just trying to work through the "best" way for me to do this and keep the integrity of your ZCS/ZDB relationships.
I am a little surprised by yoru comment about moving to 7 from 5 as I would think you would be exciuted to just know that we upgraded. Some of our teams are on Office 2010 so version 7 seemed to be the logical choice.
Thanks
