Default Outlook Distribution fails to send gets stuck in outbox

Good Evening Community,

I am reaching out hoping someone can confirm a finding or point me to my errors.

We have 2 customers:

#1 ubuntu 8 64bit 6.09 network

#2 ubuntu 8 32bit 6.09 network editon

both are running outlook 2007 SP2.

#1 customer emails directly from excel to distribution lists in bbc field and to themsleves, if the distribution list is NOT expanded (+) beside name in outlook- the email sits in the outbox and is never sent.. i have duplicated this on 2 users from same organizations different computers.

In an effort to see if this was a bug, i log into customer #2 and attempt to duplicate the bug.. i get different results.. the email sends but shows up as undeliverable:
Code:
Note: Soap Fault. Please recreate and resend the message. Details below:
Error Code: mail.SEND_ABORTED_ADDRESS_FAILURE
Error Text: Invalid address: <”TestGroup”>. com.zimbra.cs.mailbox.MailSender$SafeSendFailedException: Invalid Addresses; chained exception is:
com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPAddressFailedException: 504 5.5.2 <TestGroup>: Recipient address rejected: need fully-qualified address
upon clicking the "Send again" button.. magically the email gets sent...
Distribution lists were the SAME 4 email addresses in both tests created in outlook.. Can anyone confirm similar findings?
