Default Duration of initial sync

Hi,

Currently I'm evaluating Zimbra ZCS.
On our Exchange server are lots of big mailboxes (up to 5GiB).

To test the Outlook Connector I set up a new Zimbra mailbox and filled it with
20000 Mails (500MiB) from my Gmail account.
The initial sync is now running for 1.5h. :-(

Why does it take so long?
Does the Outlook Connector download _all_ data to the client?

I'm a bit skeptical how it will do with out really big mailboxes.

Thanks,
//richard

P.s: My Client runs Windows7 with Office 2007 SP2

Yes, of course it does.

It only does that sync once. What is it you're sceptical about?

BTW, 5GB isn't really that 'large' a mailbox and I can assure you there are much larger ones than that.

The only way it should take that long is if you have an incredibly slow network connection. Normally, an initial sync of r 500MB mailbox should take 20 or 25 minutes, I would think.

You can set the initial sync to download headers only. That will speed it up considerably. Also, if you have logging on, this slows it down.

Also, version 7.0 will be faster.

My network connection is fast.
The initial sync with headers only took 3h, this is unacceptable.
Outlook consumes 100% CPU all the time, the network connection is not fully used.

Obviously something else is going on. Sometimes virus checkers cause problems. Sometimes search protocol host is an issue. You might take a look at:

Disabling desktop search helped a lot.
Now it is faster, but still not fast.

Thanks,
