Default [SOLVED] File->Open->Other users mailbox disabled?

After much looking for the process, I found that in order to access a shared calendar in Outlook, the first step is to

File->Open->Other users mailbox

However, this option is disabled on my user's Outlook. What would cause this? The user is a standard user rather than an admin, but I don't see how that would affect whether Outlook can do this.

What do you mean it's disabled? Is it a grayed out menu item, or the menu item isn't there? Do you have other Zimbra items, like Help->About Zimbra Connector for Outlook or Tools->Zimbra Server Rules, etc.

It is grayed out. No, I do not have Help->About Zimbra nor do I have a Zimbra entry on the tools menu.

Then your whole connector is hosed -- it didn't get registered correctly. And I'd be surprised if File->Open Other User's Mailbox is grayed out -- it's probably not even there. You're probably confusing it with Open Other User's Folder.

In any case, there are a few things you can do.

What version are you running? The easiest might be to uninstall and reinstall. There are also manual commands you can run, but depending on the version, uninstalling and reinstalling is the best option.

Let me know

Since the user was a standard user instead of an admin, I could not install the connector on their ID. I had to do this. When I go in through the mail icon in control panel, I do select ZCS as the email service. I'm fairly sure the ZCO version is 6.0.3.

What you did sounds totally unsupported to me. You should install as an admin. So obviously, you have a messed up connector. Hopefully, these commands should correct it, but no guarantees. Assuming you are running in an English USA local (1033): [if not, just go to the proper directory]

cd \Program Files\Common Files\system\MSMAPI\1033
regsvr32 /u LSMSSP32.dll
regsvr32 /u SharingAddin.dll
regsvr32 /u ShutdownAddin.dll
regsvr32 LSMSSP32.dll
regsvr32 SharingAddin.dll
regsvr32 ShutdownAddin.dll

That worked, but I had to do it from the admin ID. It did not work on the standard user account. I'm sure we're not the first of your customers to have standard users on our network. You should publish procedures for people in this type of environment to install the connector and have it work.

Thanks for your help.
