Default Out of Office in outlook Doesn't work

I am wondering if this feature is even meant to work or if the Button is just there.
When any users try to use the out of office in outlook we get the following Microsoft Visual C++ Debug error window that says:
c:\program files (x86)\microsoft office\office12\outlook.exe module:...program files (x86)\common files\system\msmapi\1033\lslib32.dll
File:
Runtime check Failure #2 - stack around the variable 'buf' was corrupted
Press ok to debug

I get this error on any Operating system 32bit or 64bit. with office 2003 or 2007 with latest service packs.
I also ran up a fresh install of windows, fresh office, no other software installed and still got the error.
we are using ZCO 6.04
Out of office works fine through web browser.

Any Help appreciated.

Is it possible you have a very long message, like more than 1000 characters? There was a bug, 44458, where we bumped it up to 8192, and got rid of a crash. See comments #2 and #3 in that bug. This is fixed, but it won't come out until 6.0.6, to be released in March.

If this is the problem, then the workaround is to shorten the message until 6.0.6 comes out.

This is not the issue unfortunately.
Howevere we have found that if you hit the ignore button, it does still activate your out of office.

The error is for something else, but not sure what

Is there something special about this message? Perhaps it has special characters that we can't handle? If you can, please send a copy of the message.

Has anybody managed to fix this? I'm getting this too for the latest 6.0.9 bug fix. Hard to imagine it hasn't been fixed

For sure. I've just confirmed it by installing Zimbra 6.0.9 Connector on a brand new Outlook 2007 on a brand new Windows 7 64-bit install. The error is:

Debug Error!

Program: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office 12\OUTLOOK.EXE
Module: ...ogram Files (x86)\Common Files\SYSTEM\MSMAPI\1033\LSLIB32.dll

File:
Run-Time Check Failure #2 - Stack around the variable 'buf' was corrupted

Press Retry to debug the application

Not the debug message -- I know what that is. I mean the actual Out of Office message that is causing the problem.

We also fixed a bug (52897) where this error happened if your server was offline. But that fix ought to be in the 6.0.9 ZCO you are running. Perhaps you could send a ZCO log file as well.

The actual message I'm trying to set is just "I am away from the office".
It consistently crashes every time (see pic). I've just updated my Zimbra server to the latest release - 6.0.8_GA_2685 and am using the latest Outlook Connector.

I've attached the logfiles if that helps.. Thank you
