What is the best way to upgrade ZCO's

When a new ZCO version is released (i.e. the new 6.0.4 for example to replace the 6.0.3 version), what is the best way to replace 6.0.3? Do we just install the 6.0.4 version and have it uninstall 6.0.3 or do we uninstall 6.0.3 first and then do the upgrade? Also, is it ok to leave the user profile intact or should that be removed as well?

Upgrade the server to the upcoming 6.0.4 first.
Distribute the 6.0.4 ZCO or have them grab it from the zimbra/downloads/index.html page - no need to uninstall the 6.0.3 ZCO.
