same problem here. ZCO Connector 5.0.18 works perfectly well, all later versions (5.0.19, 5.0.20, 6.0.2) are not working. they all raise the error message:

Unable to open your default e-mail folders.

This only happens on Outlook 2003 on XP (SP2). Outlook 2007 is fine.

I am using a "fresh" Zimbra account. There is only one mail in the Inbox an one mail in the Sent folder. No long addresses. So I doubt, that this is related to bug 42295. I have attached a ZCO log.

thomas

The log file didn't tell me much. Is there a crash dump associated with this? It would be in %TEMP%\zco-cores

No, there are no crash dumps. I search the whole filesystem. The dir zco-cores does not exist on my system.

Is there anything else I could check? As this happens to the VM I am currently working with, I could provide an VM Image for you to make some more detailed test...

Thomas

A couple of questions:

What version of Outlook 2003 do you run? Maybe it hasn't been updated with the latest service packs?

Do you have any weird addins installed on that machine?

Does this only do this on that machine, or does this not work any any machine?

This version of Outlook has never got any updates or patches. Version is 11.5608.5606.

No. ZCO is the only plugin/addin.

One of our customers made me aware of the problem. For test setups I only use Outlook 2007 and it took me some time to get a copy of Olk 2003. When I installed it, I could verify the problems our customer reported (Outlook 2003 on XP worked up to the 5.0.18 connector, and does not work with any newer version). So the answer is "yes", it happens on other machines as well, but it seems to be limited to XP (customer reported, that Outlook 2003 on Vista with Connector 5.0.19 works, which I can not verify as I have no Vista machine).

Should I try to patch Outlook?

Thomas

Hi fsiegel,

after applying SP3 to Outlook 2003 the Connectors 5.0.19 and 6.0.2 are working... Is SP3 a requirement for Outlook 2003?

I'm not sure about SP3 being a requirement, maybe SP2, but your version (11.5608.5606) was extremely old. It's always best to have the latest. Glad it's working.

This is what I also noticed: with Outlook 2003 SP3 all versions were running fine. If you can't have installed SP3 then you must stick with 5.0.18.

For me is not a problem - but it would be great if Zimbra would mention prerequisites. This would prevent threads like this...
