    Default more info

OK. I can get past the initial crashing after installing BCM if I uninstall Zimbra first and then open up outlook without zimbra to create the intial BCM database. Without Zimbra installed I AM able to create a new contact in the BCM Accounts. When I install zimbra and reconfigure my profile, it opens ok with BCM. But when I create a contact in BCM Accounts, it crashes.

If I remove the zimbra profile and open up to an IMAP profile, I can once again create the BCM Accounts without a crash.

I attached my zco file to my support case.

    hi,

did you try the steps manually to set up dr. watson on your machine or did you use the script. i actually do it manually and it works to generate the crash dump. we can still debug w/o the dump but it is much easier to debug with the dump because it will tell us exactly where it crashed and the exception that caused it to crash (access violation, com exception, etc....).
what exactly happens when it crashes. does outlook just go away or do you see a dialog. if you see a dialog, what are the contents?

    thanks

I did the steps manually, and it now creates a dump file, but it disappears as fast as it appears. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

    Run Outlook
    Run command that causes crash
Dr Watson config comes up, I change the file name for the dump.
Click OK and the dr watson config window closes.
Click debug on the error window.
Still nothing shows up, then a window comes up asking to send or don't send error. I click either and the dump file shows up and disappears before I can click on it.

I've tried several different ways in different order of the above, same results, or no dump shows up at all.

This is appearing though in the dr watson config window:
    outlook.exe c0000005 LSMSSP32!Zimbra_Store_StoreContext_Release(530C5A2 C)

    Thanks,
    Brad

ok..so it looks like it is an access violation in the releasing of a store context object. definitely would like more information about this crash if it looks like some sort of a shutdown issue.

when the dr. watson dialog comes up...make sure to set the filename and then specify "full dump" as opposed to "mini dump". then hit "OK". if windows throws up another dialog, don't try to debug and just cancel out of there.
regardless the dump file should be there after dr. watson closes so maybe you should check for it before dismissing any other windows dialogs.

    OK.

    Here is what I do.

    1. Open Outlook
    2. Click Business Tools->Accounts
    3. Click Actions->New Account
Dr. Watson for Windows dialog appears
    Items Already Set/Selected:
    Log File Path: c:\debug
    Crash Dump: c:\debug\dump.dmp
    Number of Instructions: 10
Number of Errors To Save: 10
    Crash Dump Type: Full
    Options Selected:
    Dump Symbol Table
    Dump All Thread Contexts
    Append To Existing Log File
    Create Crash Dump File
    Application Errors Reads: c:\progra~1\Micros~2\office11\outlook.exe c0000005 LSMSSP32!Zimbra__Store__StoreContext__Release(530C 5A2C)

    4. Click OK

Another Outlook.exe -Application Error window appears and reads:
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
    Process ID=0x514 (1300), Thread ID=0x420 (1056).
Click OK to terminate the application.
Click CANCEL to debug the application.

5a. Click OK and outlook is closed, no dump file generated.(i am watching the debug folder during this entire process)

5b. I Click Cancel and the Send Error Report for MS window shows up. Options, Debug, Send Error Report, Don't Send. If I click on any of those options, outlook just crashes and I still get no Debug.

I just can't seem to get it create a dmp file...killin me.

looks like you are doing the right thing. in 5a) you are right to select OK because you don't want to try to debug. at that point the dump file should be generated (always seems to generate a dump file for me). i'm not sure why it isn't. either way, it seems that you have made a valiant effort trying to get a hold of this dump file. knowing that it crashes in StoreContext::Release() with an access violation and the logs hopefully will give us enough info to debug this issue. i'll let you know if i can think of anything else that could help generate the dump file.

Thanks. Look forward to what you dig up. I added the event log details, which had more information, to my support case as well.

You can try using userdump to create the dump. Follow the instructions here:
How to use the Userdump.exe tool to create a dump file

After outlook crashes, use userdump to generate the core. Please let us know if this works for you.

Default Query....How to Add Client in BCM?

Hey I tried to reproduce BCM thing, here are the steps I performed:
    1.Installed Outlook 2003 fine,
    2.Installed ZCO fine.
3.Add BCM plug-in to outlook fine.

Add Contact to BCM and Synced with Zimbra..After sync I got Contact in Emailed Contacts folder in Web Client.

When I tried to Import Contact to BCM from CSV file I was getting exception error and no contact got imported

To get the core dump I followed the steps given on :CoreDump - ZimbraWiki
But I have not observed any core dump....

Could you give me the exact steps you performed when u came across such problem?

Another thing:What do mean by adding new client to BCM
That would be great help if you tell me where is that option Add Client in BCM or Steps to add a client.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Prashant

    Default BCM and Outlook

Did the solution to this ever get posted? I have the same issue with BCM and the Outlook connector. Unistalling BCM on the client, uninstalling the ZCO connector and then re-installing enabled my Outlook client to sync to the zimbra server. However BCM still is not able to be installed. It gets into "Restart BCM" cycle which never ends and then crashes Outlook.

    Just curious
