Performance with Outlook connector

Hello everyone,

We are currently using an MDaemon mail server with Outlook connector client.
The performance are pretty bad so we are currently thinking about moving to Zimbra mail server.

Since it's using an Outlook Connector, I would like to know if someone can give me feedbacks about the performance with the zimbra connector.

Our users mailboxes are like this :
- many subfolders (10 to 40)
- lots of mails (> 10 000)
- mailbox size between 1 and 2 Go.
- outlook 2007 (still some 2003)
- windows XP and some Vista.

Outlook takes really long time to start, often stop responds, crashes... Our users are pissed of and if we move to another mail server we don't want to have same issues.

I've been using the Outlook connector in a demo install of Zimbra Professional edition. Since it's only been a few months, I don't have as much mail or subfolders as your users, but I've seen quite good performance.

Note: my ZCS is Release 5.0.12_GA_2789.MACOSXx86 Network Edition. Outlook connector is the same version

Client is on XP SP2 (maybe SP3 by now) and Outlook is 2007 with the kb961752 hotfix installed.

While I haven't personally had problems, you should be aware that others have reported a bug when using this hotfix, or Office 2007 SP2. See

Some indications are that the problem only occurs with certain versions of ZCO.
