Default Download mails locally

Hi All,

Is it possible to download all mails from the Zimbra server locally without keeping a copy in server while using MAPI with zimbra connector in outlook 2007.

Thanks,

Hi Anybody have any hints, I know one copy of the mailbox will be stored locally as .zdb file and everytime it is syncing with the server copy. I want to store the mails locally only and should not keep a copy in the server, as creating local PST using outlook with Exchange server.

thanks in advance.

Please update your forum profile with the output of the following:

Code:
zmcontrol -v
You really don't want to delete mail from the server, there will come a day when the user will say: 'I've deleted all these important emails and I don't have a backup, get them back for me'. I would strongly advise you not to go down that route, HD storage is inexpensive so invest in that and a good backup/recovery strategy and your users will love you forever when they lose mail and you get it back for them.

So there is no way ?

Here the scenario is little different, there are so many users getting hundreds of mails like alerts, logs etc and their mailboxes growing from GB to GB. They cannot delete these emails from the server but they are ready to keep in local machine.

Before Zimbra all these people are POP users and now they using MAPI only for the calendar kind of features.

I would appreciate if you can suggest any workaround for this.

Thanks,

We setup a local Archive for automatically archiving old mail in OL and allow the user to move the message to local hard drive

OL -> Settings -> Other Settings -> Archive...
you can distribute a file settings for pushing the file location to your user and than set archive criteria via AD policy

The user can of course manually archive/moving messages from the zimbra to the archive
