Hello,
I installed the ZCO (5.0.10_GA_2638_5.0.2767.10) two days ago (March 9th). I have Outlook 2003, SP3, on Windows XP. Reinstalled it one day ago (March 10th), because I wanted to force an initial sync again (have since learned I didn't have to go quite that far, but that's not the point here). I noticed that from the first day of the ZCO install, many thousands of .msg files are accumulating in my profile temp directory (%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp). The names of the files are of the form zcal-00005619018649181188243681472272551831236161302287 3430-0x10-3-10-2009-12-33-26-481.msg. These files do not go away when Outlook is closed, or when the system is rebooted and i currently have 37,206 of them in my temp directory, after basically three full work days. This should not be! Am I experiencing an anomaly, or is this a "feature?" (Btw, it happens on my laptop as well.)
The content of the .msg files is mostly calendar appointments, as far as I can tell, and if I open several of them in a row, they are the same item for maybe 5 or 6 of the files, then it moves on to another item. It seems like I get 5 or 6 files per calendar item I either create, or modify. Seems excessive. Is this part of the synchronization process and how can I stop it?
Follow-up question, not totally unrelated: can one install a newer version of the ZCO than the version of ZCS one is running? We can't update the servers to 5.0.14 just yet, so we'll be on 5.0.10 for a couple months. Could I use a later version of ZCO than 5.0.10?
