Default Auto Update?

I'd like to suggest perhaps the outlook connector could come with an autoupdate function to check what version the server is running and then offer an update when approriate?

I did a quick search of this forum and didn't see anything come up.

Is there any plans for such feature?

I often use 2-3 different machines (and webmail) I find it a pain to login grab the connector and manually install it on each of them everytime the server gets upgraded (I'm an end user with a single zimbra mailbox, using one of the hosted providers)

But will a user with "standard" rights be able to install the ZCO? Or will it still require admin rights?

you could get a script that runs the zco installer as an admin user, therefore being able to "update"

If I log in as an administrator and run the ZCO installer, will it take effect for all users on that machine? If I remember right, with older versions of the ZCO, it had to be run for each user of the machine. If I ran the 5.0.3 (for example) as the admin user, it didn't take effect for the "regular" user of that computer.

The 5.0.14 installer now writes keys to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Any user changes will go into HKEY_CURRENT_USER. When we look for reg values, we'll check HKCU first, to see if the given user has overridden any defaults, and if the value isn't there, we'll check HKLM.

It seems to work OK with the 5.0.12 installer too. I've run the install as the domain admin on a couple machines, had the user log in, and Outlook ran fine and had the .12 connector when I checked the "about".

BTW, I did find an MSI to EXE converter online. I created an EXE version of the ZCO MSI file and was able to do a "run as". That worked pretty well!
