[SOLVED] Server Failure Notice

Since I upgraded the Outlook Connector to version 11 (to match with our server upgrade), I start getting the following messages from time to time, some time have over 20 at ones. However, I am getting mail without problem, so there is no communication problem with the Zimbra server. I am wondering why it got so many messages? As it's stated that "no action is required", is it possible to stop these type of message from even being send out?

Absolutely not.

I just launched a Zimbra box 5 days ago, migrating 50 mailboxes from Exchange. The migration was successful, but users of the connector are receiving these messages. Most of the error types are related to "initial syncs", however, and it usually happens right after installation of the Connector.

Based on what I've seen -- I'm thinking that after installation of the connector, when we add the shared calendars on the first launch of Outlook, the initial sync doesn't take place immediately (which explains why the calendars take forever to populate). If I restart outlook, however, they populate much faster.

Hopefully we get a staff response to this thread.

With the server failure message, there should be an attachment, which is the xml of the sync error. Can you post that so we can take a look?

FWIW, in 5.0.10, we starting putting these local and server failures in your inbox as well as in SyncIssues, because we felt that people were missing these, and we wanted a better way of informing the user. This can be annoying, however, so we do have a registry key where you can turn this feature off, and these messages will go only to SyncIssues. This key is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Zimbra\turnOffInboxFai lures

Set it to 1 if you don't want them in your inbox. In 5.0.12, you will also be able to turn this on and off by checking or unchecking View-> Errors to Inbox in Outlook.

There is no zimbra under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE so I just add it in. Have to wait to see if this works.

There are a couple of strange things about your reply.

1) The fact that there was no Zimbra under HKLM\SOFTWARE. It's true that most Zimbra settings are under HKCU\Software\ZIMBRA, but there are a few that should be under HKLM.

2) In the sync error message, I see:

11 is the Outlook Mailbox Root folder. Of course you can't delete that, as it seems this request is trying to do.

So I'm not really sure what's going on here. Do you have some ZCO logs that accompany these errors? That might help.

Have you tried either uninstalling and reinstalling the connector, or recreating thsi profile. Due to the registry weirdness, I would suggest one or both.

No, the Registry Key do not stop the message from coming to the inbox, it's still coming in, just have over 10 coming in at the same time.

No, I don't have debug log turn on, and I don't know when this error will on occur.

Yes, if you search for my name on the forum, you should see that I used to have profile issues as well, so I've keep on uninstalling and installing the connector for many times (even blow away the profile completely, and this is my latest installation just a few days ago. Sound like I am doing this over and over again, and still can't get anywhere (and can't fix my porfile)

Strange. Are you sure you're setting the key correctly? Can you export that registry hive and post it? Will all your profile issues, maybe your Outlook is messed up. Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling that?

I do have the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Zimbra\ but not the turnOffInboxFailures key.

From time to time I would also receive the Server Failures notices but not as often as Bosco.

I think the ZCO 5.0.12 is not yet posted on the distribution site.

Pre 5.0.12, you had to add the key manually, I believe. With 5_0_12, there is a UI that takes care of it -- View-> Errors to Inbox. I think 5.0.12 has been released.
