Thanks. Just installed ZCO 5.0.12 and was able to uncheck the Errors to Inbox.

We have tried turning off the "Errors to Inbox" feature but the option resets to On whenever Outlook is restarted. How can this change be made permanent?

ZCO 5.0.2893.13

Well that's not supposed to happen. I assume you're turning it off with the UI -- unchecking View->Errors to Inbox. Not sure what's going on here. Try just tweaking the registry key directly:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Zimbra\turnOffInboxFai lures

Set it to 1

Just in case, after you do that, check HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ZIMBRA\turnOffInboxFail ures and set it to 1. I'm sure that in your version, it's not there, but just in case.

Weird. Let me know what happens.

On the laptop that I am testing on, there is no Zimbra folder under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE. There is a folder for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ZIMBRA, but I don't see an entry for turnOffInboxFailures.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Connector. No change. One odd thing - even if I uninstall the Connector, the installer still thinks that I'm doing an upgrade when I attempt to reinstall it.

Default Registry problems

OK - you've got a couple of things going on there, neither of them any good. The reason that you can't turn the inbox failures off is because there is no HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE. I don't know how it got that way, but probably because of the other problem of the installer thinking that you were just upgrading even after an uninstall. When that happens, we don't write registry keys. Here is what to do to solve both problems (if you have permissions, and if you are comfortable with regedit):

1) If you want to solve the "thinking it's an upgrade problem" first, that will solve both problems. In regedit, look in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uni nstall. Do a Find on ZCS Connector for Outlook. It would show up in the DisplayName property of a given GUID. Delete that GUID. [There may be more than one]. Next time you install, it will not think you need an upgrade, and it will write the proper HKLM (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE) keys and values. Then unchecking the menu item (View->Errors to Inbox) in our UI should work for you.

2) If you are a little gun shy for the first approach, you can just set the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Zimbra values and keys yourself. If you have permission, go into regedit, and create a new key called Zimbra under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE. Then under that new Zimbra key, create a new REG_DWORD value called turnOffInboxFailures. Then unchecking the View->Errors to Inbox menu item in our UI should work for you.

I recommend the first approach.

Let me know what happens.

Default Registry problems -- correction

I meant "The reason that you can't turn the inbox failures off is because there is no HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Zimbra".

I tried method 2 (I have a lot of users with Outlook/ZCO already installed - I need the simplest method to resolve the issue). It worked great - now the 'Errors to Inbox' option is unchecked when I start up Outlook.

Now the hard part - how do I easily apply this fix to the various laptops and terminal servers out there? I work more on the Unix side so I don't know much about rolling out registry changes to the Windows machines.

Are you sure that all of these laptops have the same problem? You might want to check to make sure, in case you don't have to do it much. If you have to do it, the best way is to export and import.

In regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Zimbra. Right click on it, choose Export, and enter something in the File dialog to save this to a .reg file. Then on the other registry, do a File->Import of this .reg file. Take a look at the .reg file, though, and make sure you want to import everything. You can tweak it if you want.

I believe that the mail.IMMUTABLE_OBJECT Server Failure (trying to delete the Outlook root folder) is related to the LinkedIn Toolbar Addin. If anyone has this addin and has seen this Server Failure, please post to this forum.

Thanks

Default XML Error Report - Linked-In Add-On

I have a user who's profile I just rebuilt who has the "Server Failure Notice" messages coming to him even though we've turned off "Errors to Inbox" in Outlook. He is also using the LinkedIn Add-On. I've attached the XML error report to this reply
