Missing GAL

Hello,

I'm running the Outlook Connector 5.0.9 on a 5.0.4 server and I was having problems today with accessing another person's inbox that I removed my profile to re-create my setup to see if that would fix the issue. Well now my GAL is missing. Does anyone know of a way to get it back? This is for Outlook 2007 SP-1.

I have one user profile with the same problem so if you did solve it in the end, please report back.

I worked it out and resolved the issue with the following steps. Not sure if all the steps are needed in order to resolve the issue but I took this path:


1) Close outlook
2) Remove user's profile via "Mail" object in Windows Control Panel
3) Remove user's PST and ZDB files. (Location depends if XP or Vista are used)
4) Search for and rename Mapisvc.inf - There should be two instances
5) Run ZCO installer again, choose "repair"
6) Start Outlook, create new profile, point to ZCS and let it do initial sync.
7) User has his GAL back

Thanks I will give this a try and let you know. I am really disappointed that you have to go through hoops when the application goes on the fritz. This shouldn't be the case.

did you try the "Update Global Address List" menu options? do you have some ZCO logs?

Yep I tried that seperatly a few times. Do you want me to PM you the log file?

the best thing to do is contact support. that way we can get this issue/resolution into their database.

I am all out of support requests since I noticed that they deduct an incident credit from my account even if the issue is related to some sort of bug, i.e. not caused by us.
