Default Outlook 2007 views mail as plain text

One of my customers using a hosted Zimbra, suddenly got to see all his mail as plain text, even the ones that are formatted in HTML.
Outlook 2007 is well configured (security center) not to do that. (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...305451033.aspx)

But the problem persists. No idea as of why this suddenly started? The customer only tells me he upgraded to AVG 8.0, but I don't see a direct relation to that.

Any idea/tip?

Update might be an AVG 8 problem: AVG Free Forum :: AVG 8.0 Free Edition - Installation Issues :: HTML email converted to plain text
Update 2: SOLVED AVG Free Forum :: AVG 8.0 Free Edition - Installation Issues :: Updating issues involving plain text and HTML

Tell them to disable AVG in Outlook, see if that fixes the problem. If they continue to have problems they should raise it with their hosting provider and they can raise a support case (if necessary).

There is definitely a connection between installing AVG 8.0 and this problem, as another user had the exact issue. He tried a number of things, which eventually solved his problem. He was never sure which one actually did it, but the first thing I would try is to:

Uninstall AVG
Uninstall ZCO (make sure it's a clean uninstall -- no leftover registry entries)
Reinstall ZCO
Make a new profile and sync
Reinstall AVG

See how it works with the new profile (and even existing profiles)

It is AVG, and there is no need to disable it entirely or go through a re-installation. See my response in this thread for details.

AVG 8.0 is the culprit, but there's no need to re-install it or disable it entirely.

The problem is AVG's "Certification" feature which causes it to append text to each incoming email message saying, "This email has been scanned by AVG and is clean." The rewriting of the email with that signature somehow causes Outlook not to recognize it as HTML any more.

The solution is to go into AVG's advanced settings, and under the options for email scanning uncheck the box for certification of incoming email.

I should add that this setting will only affect future incoming email. Anything already received and rewritten will still not render in HTML.
