Yup, it works fine, but you have to use an XMPP compliant client such as:

- iChat (mac)
- Adium (mac)
- Trilian Pro
- Pidgin
- Miranda

I'd like to find an IM application I can distribute trough Active directory so that internal users can see each other status

Any suggestions?

On an exchange server the same functionality is done trough messenger connected on the local exchange server

We use this at work Pandion - An easy to use XMPP and Jabber client. Looks like a single binary so no GTK/ASPELL woes
