Default ZCO and squid proxy

Hi,

I have one user who wants to access our Zimbra Server with Outlook/ZCO through a authenticating squid http proxy.

I was pretty sure that this should work as I saw the proxy configuration dialog during the ZCO installation before. But ZCO does not seem to connect to the proxy. I doublechecked that the proxy settings are correct.

What could be the problem here? Are there known issues about authenticating proxies and ZCO?
BTW: Username and Password for the http proxy are not the same as the Zimbra Account credentials...

Regards
Thomas

have you tried to configure the proxy settings in IE and have ZCO use the IE settings?

I tried both (IE Settings and to configure the proxyserver dirctly into ZCO). I had no success. I could verify, that ZCO did not even connect to the proxy (no log entry in the squid).

How can I debug that?

Hi,

I installed winhttptracecfg. I can see, that the ZCO connects to the squid http proxy (I can also see entries in the squid access log). The squid returns "authentication required" but the ZCO does not open a dialog for the basic authentication....

The question is: what is the expected behaviour? Is it simply not supportet (ZCO through authenticating proxy), or is it a bug, that the auth dialog is not raised...

Regards
Thomas

It's a big bug

Hi,

I never received an answer whether this is a bug or simply not supported (ZCO through authenticating proxy). The issue is not so important to me to open a support ticket for that.

But it is simply somewhat unsatisfying not to know if we are observing a bug or if we have to open an enhancement request....

Regards
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
unfortunately this is a big problem for my organization.
Manager using outlook aren't able to gain access to Zimbra when they work connected to Company intranet because of proxy validation (Zimbra front end is located in DMZ).
When they are outside, connected via internet provider, all works fine.
I think should be time for me to open a ticket about that.
Thanks for your quick answer.
All the best
Diego
