Default Outlook persona - sending fails

I've setup a Persona for an account within Outlook so that when sending mail the From address is an Alias for a user rather than their username.

However sending then fails with the Outlook error:

Note: Error sending the message. Please recreate and resend the message.

Switching back to the default Persona allows mail to be sent.

Using this persona from the web client works just fine.

Server: v5.0.1, ZCO v5.0.1 and v5.0.2
MS Outlook 2003 SP3

Any ideas? I searched bugzilla but didn't find anything regarding this. Additionally, I've uninstalled and re-installed connectors.

Thanks,
John

Found a workaround here. I'd still be interested as to whether personas are working for other people.

I have verified that a user of mine has done the same as above and could not send mail, once he changed it back to default it allowed him.

just tried and couldn't reproduce. Do the following:

1. Shutdown outlook
2. Enable logging with ZCOLogCtl (check all the options)
3. Start outlook, configure the persona, send a message
4. Shutdown outlook
5. Attach the log.

Default Outlook Persona

Hi Sam,

I have exactly the same problem, I get a sending fail error from outlook when I set the outlook identity to non-default personas.

I have attached the Zimbra log in my message.

Thank you.

Is there any progress at this issue. That's really annoying because we would like to use the personas function but as soon as we try to use one we can't send out any mails.

Have you contacted support or searched bugzilla to see if anything has already been filed? Problems such as this will make no progress unless they're reported to support and a case is created and bug reports filed.

Hi guys, I found a solution for my problem.

I wanted to use a mail alias as Reply-To- and From-address.
Unfortunately the wrong address (primary zimbra address) was shown in my sent folder within Outlook and appointment invitations were sent with the primary address too. When I tried to use "Personas" it wasn't able to send any mail. To resolve this, I took the following steps:

There is is an attribute in LDAP called zimbraPrefReplyToEnabled which was set to FALSE in my case.

1. I set this attribute to TRUE
2. Then I restarted Outlook and reloaded the GAL (Send/Receive-button)
3. After that I just activated the checkbox "Use this Persona as Outlook Identity" within the Personas window

Now the right mail address (my alias) is shown for both, the Sent folder and apointment invitations.

Hope this can help someone who runs into the same problem.
