Default [SOLVED] Outlook 2007 crashing at startup

I'm in the middle of a test install of Zimbra NE 5.01. Everything seems to be going good except for the Outlook Connector. I run the installation and everything appears normal until I open Outlook and enter the server information. After the server information dialog goes away Outlook crashes. Then every time I start Outlook it crashes before fully loading. This is happening both before and after I installed SP1 for Outlook 2007. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Thanks,

Mike Chapman

Also, Outlook 2007 is running on Windows XP SP2.

Thanks,

Can you look at %TEMP%\zco-cores.
There should be some crash dumps created.
Also enable ZCO logs and post them here or PM me.

I've attached a zip file with my latest crash dump and some logs. Is this what you're looking for?

Thanks for your help,

The file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\mspst32.dll" does exist and it is version "4.0.993.0".

That is wrong version and version of mapi32.dll loaded is also very old.
It seems that there is another mapi subsystem installed.
Maybe there is something like Exchange Admin Tools installed?

Currently there's nothing related to Exchange installed. I don't believe there ever was (unless it was installed inadvertently) because we've never had an Exchange server. I did at one point install Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager but then immediately removed the Business Contact Manager so I was left with plain Outlook 2007. I even uninstalled and reinstalled Outlook 2007 today to see if that would help.

If these versions are too old could I uninstall Outlook 2007, delete the files, and then reinstall Outlook 2007? Would it replace the mapi files? If this is something I should try then which files should I delete?

Thanks,

Mike

You can try
rename
mapi32.dll
mapistub.dll

and run fixmapi.exe if it present in the %SYSTEM32%

also rename mspst32.dll
and msems32.dll if it is present in the %SYSTEM32%

try to run Outlook.

After I rename %SYSTEM32%\mapi32.dll and %SYSTEM32%\mapistub.dll to mapi32-old.dll and mapistub-old.dll I ran %SYSTEM32%\fixmapi.exe. This produced an error dialog with the message "LoadLibrary: GetLastError = 126". I then also renamed %SYSTEM32%\mspst32.dll to mspst32-old.dll and fixmapi.exe still wouldn't run. When I then run Outlook is complains that "The Add-in 'Zimbra Client Extension" (SharingAddin.DLL) cannot be loaded and has been disabled by Outlook. Please contact the Add-in manufacturer for an update. If no update is available, please uninstall the Add-in."

If I don't rename mapistub.dll then I can get fixmapi.exe to run but Outlook still crashes. The mapi32.dll that fixmapi puts back in the %SYSTEM32%\ directory is still version 1.0.2536.0 (the same as the renamed mapi32.dll.

Any other ideas? Thanks again for your help,

Mike Chapman
