Default Email show's in Sent folder but is not really sent.

Anyone experiencing this? User sends an email in outlook 2007 and no errors and email goes to her sent folder. Intended recipient does not receive email (same user in the domain and/or external user).

Outlook 2007 - with outlook connector.
and Zimbra 4.5.6

It's really random and there's nothing in the zimbra servers log as if the the transaction never happened.

looks like this bug:

Bug 20168 - ZCO failed to send a message

can you enabled logging including http output using zcologctrl.exe and try to capture zco logs when this happens? i can't reproduce this bug and any information helps debug the issue.

there are cases where you attempt to send a message, the item makes it to your sent items, then a non-delivery report is generated in your inbox indicated that the send failed.

We looked and there where no delivery report generated.

We'll try this. It's really really random i think for the last month it only happened 2 or 3 times according to her. Most of the time the emails are sent. The last one was just a text email nothing fancy. The other one was with a pdf attachment sent to local users.

It happened again and this time to me and I'm using the zimbra webmail to send an email to myself and did not recieve anything. I also got a call from remote users having soap time out issues. zmcontrol status said that logger service died. Restarting service, zmcontrol status said the zmclamdctl is not running. starting zmclamdctl fixed the problem (zimbra server working). But the email(s) sent on that time just disappeared not even in the log.

Any help troubleshooting this very much appreciated. Do you need anything from me?

This is the situation I am experiencing. Is there a known fix in this case?

Did you look at the bug report mentioned above? Is this with the Outlook Connector? If it is can you enable logging (as mentioned earlier in this thread) and raise a support case and attach the logs.

this is intended behavior and not a bug. if an error condition is returned by the server, the NDR message is the way of notifying you of the error.
